Donald Trump's 'look - squirrel' routine kept him from jail and got him back into the Oval Office. He commands the toady GOP majority in the House and he has the Senate Republicans soiling themselves at the thought of a harsh tweet while his apple polishers on the SCOTUS debase the notion of an impartial judiciary. Big Media are either his pimps or unctuous sycophants while the libertarian techno-capitalists Zuckerberg, Bezos and the like jostled each other to fondle his sack. (Except for Space Nazi Elmo. After a promising start with his performative reach-arounds he skulked away and is now busy hectoring the Brits on the positives of installing a horse-faced, nicotine-stained Reform grifter as PM via a copycat January 6.)

As a consequence of the absence of any of that holding-to-account stuff the demented, orange buffoon has figuratively clad the U.S. in gaudy, gilded tat and shat on its constitution.

The U.S. has come to this because of the "base". Not the wealthy carpet baggers, the right wing machinery or the gaggles of pneumatic, botoxed, duck-lipped camp followers looking for some rich, near death Trumper to suck dry (yeah, yeah), neither the servile weirdos, drunks and shameless opportunists in his orbit nor the full-on Nazis ala Stephen Miller or the discount handjob retailers like Laura Loomer. They are many but they are also too few.

It's the multitudes of red-capped, dull-eyed, defiantly ignorant thralls of the MAGA cult who matter.

Throngs of the stupidest people on the planet spook some of the richest and most powerful into sphincter-puckering fear. Those very same rich steal more and more from those very same stupid under the cover of Trump's hate mongering.

Does the narcissistic orange moron think he's masterminding it all as 3D chess? It's The Apprentice redux with off-stage Trump whisperers holding his dick by flattery and telling him where to piss, although now they're never too sure whose shoes he's going to dampen. Trump does know however that he has to keep the audience happy.

It's a symbiosis of the needy. Befuddled, resentful MAGA need a daddy figure; a broken inside Trump needs their adoration. Fearful oligarchs need the MAGA to think they are on their side while they pick their pockets.

What I struggle to understand is how even the thickest of MAGA dullards can't see or don't care. The open corruption and the defilement of those things they profess to hold dear. How can you take seriously a self-basting, gibbering gobshite who's face-planted into a fresh cow pat, a ludicrously tortured coif crowning a bloated Harry High-pants whose moobs would tangle in his belt buckle if he could bend in the middle.

Sometimes there's denial, sometimes there's distractions and sometimes there's whataboutisms but MAGA will always respond to criticisms of the orange-stuccoed vulgarian with an accusation of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Nevertheless, dear MAGA, let us step through this. (Note - there are polysyllables within that you may need help with. Ask a friend what 'polysyllable' means.)

What is it about Trump you admire the most? What makes this guy the best option to represent your country, to say to the world "this is who we are"? What is it that makes you puff out your chest with pride and gets you all misty-eyed? What are his God-like attributes that have you donating your pickup truck payments and eagerly bingeing on made in China Trump merch?

Is it his humiliation of the USA with his child-like fawning over Putin?  Begging like a puppy for tummy rubs from a murderous dictator whose smirk shows he knows we know who has hold of the dog lead and who is running fetch. Did you miss the imagery of US servicemen on their knees rolling out a red carpet for Putin at the Alaska summit? It would've made Comrade Supreme Putin and his lackies giddy as would've Sergei Lavrov's 'up yours Donny' trolling with his CCCP* sweatshirt at the same event. *Cyrillic for USSR

Is it other world leaders, rolling their eyes and chortling amongst themselves at his narcissism or their grimacing at the fetid waft of Depends leakage that has you leaping to your feet, waving Old Glory while hand over heart raising a rousing chant of USA! USA! USA! (at least you can remember all the words).

Maybe it's the dignified statesman who harangued and humiliated Zelensky in a disgraceful display of bullying of the underdog, a forelock tug in the direction of his master in Moscow, that has you damp around the netheries. After all, he's the great negotiator who said on dozens of occasions, in an 'entirely serious tone, manner and context', that he would end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours of his return.

Is it his charisma? The magnetic personality of a capricious, touchy, paranoid, jealous, needy, whiney bitch whimpering for a Nobel Prize because, OMG, a Black man got one.

Perhaps it's the family values of an adjudicated rapist and enthusiastic adulterer who's desperately hiding the Epstein files because we all know why.

He stands up for the little guy and has your interests at heart? The tax benefits for his rich cronies funded by cutting health care and food assistance for the poor and working class? Bit of a dilemma there, no? Three billionaires own more wealth than half your country now.

Perhaps his soaring oratory and gift for language inspires you? (“I know words, I have the best words.”) The monosyllabic braggadocio and his meandering, infantile gibber? But hey, it is enhanced by his racist taunts and puerile name-calling, his vindictiveness and denigrations of the communist/Marxist/socialist/fascist/woke slander of the nebulous "radical left" which, really, is all you want to hear.

Here's why you really worship Trump ...

The reasons for your adoration of the discoloured god-king are apparent. Trump gives permission for your own awfulness and ignorance to be overt and celebrated - "he hates the people we hate". To rationalise your worship you ignore, identify with or deny the effluvia of flaws that form his character. You take pride in your ignorance. MAGA's opinions matter, truth is not just optional it is entirely dispensable.

Your America is a nostalgic Norman Rockwell/Leave It To Beaver white-washed America that was gay-free, Black Americans, native Americans and the dusky-toned were out of sight and out of mind, kitchens were a woman's domain, Jesus was a white Republican and US military strength was a pre-Vietnam/pre-Afghanistan 'my dad can beat up your dad' source of jingoistic hubris.

Heroic Trump will restore this mythic age where Rosa Parks was just an uppity trouble maker, civil rights was a threat to the deserving like-minded, cars were huge and 'Merkin-made and gas was cheap. It's where you'll never be threatened by Democrat-voting terrorists, criminals and immigrants and 'any actions to stem the threat liberals pose are acceptable'.

U.S. troops, repurposed as Trump's own Tonton Macoutes, are trucked into Democrat cities to intimidate as a precursor of what's to come. This serves as an oblique reminder of the shared characteristics of mad dictators. Papa Doc Duvalier anointed himself President for Life of Haiti, Muammar Gaddafi was a 'creepy womanizer who had a habit of hitting on female reporters, often meeting them for interviews in bathrobes or in his underwear'. Idi Amin wrote to the British government to propose he take over from the queen as head of the UK and he summarily expelled Uganda’s Asian community, many of whom had lived in Uganda for generations.

The collapse of the US into another failed state under the rule of a discoloured, demented despot has begun.

Trump has now branded a concept as a terrorist organisation. American casualties in WW2 were 407,000 dead and 670,000 wounded. They were fighting fascists. They were anti-fascists. Antifa.

Authorising use of "full force" Trump has pointed the "guardians of democracy" inwards, authorising them to murder US citizens under the pretext that dissenters are Antifa and therefore terrorists and are ipso facto subject to extra-judicial execution.

Make America Great Again indeed.

The stultifying, oxygen sucking, coma-inducing all-encompassing narcissism where every statement, every tweet, every speech and rant has to be centred on trump and his fantastical achievements is compelling, yes?

The imbecilic pronouncements that would have your grandpa's car keys confiscated and a room would be sought at the Sunset Home For The Perpetually Bewildered. He delivers such idiocies with the cow-eyed expression of a 6 year old hoping teacher will give him an ink stamp on his hand because he's the cleverest boy.

The trump name does not even deserve capitalisation. History will be unsparing, his descendants will hide their association, the name being a source of humiliation and shame.

Make America Great Again means owning the libs, taking on the "elites" and returning to the racist, sexist, nativist times in the past. Naturalised American citizens and their descendants are not “real” Americans.

Some say that respectful debate is called for. No, it's not - "no amount of evidence will ever persuade an idiot" observed Mark Twain. MAGA are traitors, there is a coup in progress and MAGA are complicit in the destruction of US democracy and freedoms, tolerant of the rampant corruption and supportive of the brutality towards their fellow citizens. They do not deserve respect. They deserve contempt. Without these nasty-minded, servile patsies none of this would be happening.
